How does acupuncture work?
Everyday stress, lifestyle factors, and injuries can disrupt the body's natural balance, leading to physical and emotional symptoms. Acupuncture works by identifying the root cause of these imbalances and stimulating the body’s healing response.
Using ultra-fine, painless needles, we activate specific energy points to restore harmony, ease symptoms, and promote overall well-being. Research shows that acupuncture helps calm the central nervous system, regulate hormones, and release endorphins—supporting both body & mind on the path to better health.

The benefits of Acupuncture
Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition as well as your main symptoms. This approach helps resolve your main problem but also enhance your feeling of general wellbeing. You may notice other niggling problems resolve. You are likely to sleep better and feel less stressed. In general most report a heightened sense of wellbeing and energy.
Acupuncture in Early Pregnancy
Acupuncture is a safe and effective option to nurture and support early pregnancy by providing relief for many common discomforts without drugs and their harmful side effects.
Acupuncture can treat morning sickness
Many women experience nausea and vomiting during the first trimester of pregnancy. These symptoms, ranging from mild to severe, are likely caused by hormone changes in the body. If you find that you are nauseous most of the day, or if you cannot stop vomiting, you need to seek medical advice.
Most women are reluctant to use conventional medications to reduce their symptoms; so acupuncture offers an appealing alternative for alleviating nausea and vomiting. Smith et al. in 2002 published that acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for women who experience nausea and dry retching in early pregnancy.
Recommended treatment timeframe
For optimum results, I recommend weekly acupuncture treatments until 12 weeks of gestation. In addition, i believe that maintaining a healthy diet, better lifestyle, and positive emotions can directly nourish and support the fetus. Women should eat nutrient-rich and easily digestible, cooked food in small portions more often during the day, drink plenty of fluids, and avoid spicy, fried and greasy foods.Enjoy this special time in your life! Staying healthy and supporting a full-term pregnancy is something women have done for centuries.
Is acupuncture safe?
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), I am bound to observe a Code of Practice which lays down stringent procedures regarding standards of hygiene and sterilisation for needles and other equipment. All procedures have been approved by the Department of Health and provide protection against the transmission of infectious diseases. All of the needles used are disposable.
What does it feel like?
Acupuncture needles bear little resemblance to those used for giving injections or for taking blood. The needles are very fine and the sensation of having acupuncture is more like a tingling or a dull ache. During treatment, many people experience a pleasant feeling of relaxation.
Wider benefits
People receiving acupuncture frequently report benefits well beyond their original complaint – often feeling better in themselves and more resourceful in facing the world and the challenges of work, family or relationships.
